First stop, Lancaster Avenue’s newest art gallery—Ultra Silk Gallery!

Explore the Ultra Silk’s world-class collection of global art and artifacts. Barnes assistant curator TK Smith will give a brief talk on the complex relationship between Black cultural production and the American museum as it pertains to the current Barnes exhibition, William Edmondson: A Monumental Vision.

Then, hop on a chartered bus to the Barnes for complimentary access to First Friday. This month’s program is presented in partnership with BlackStar Film Festival, an annual celebration of the visual storytelling traditions of the African diaspora. Our collaboration with BlackStar features music by Philly-based vocalist, songwriter, and bandleader Black Buttafly. Guests will also have the opportunity to explore the collection galleries and William Edmondson: A Monumental Vision.

Schedule:

• 6pm: Gallery talk, wine, and light refreshments at Ultra Silk Gallery
• 7pm: Chartered bus pick-up from Ultra Silk Gallery and travel to the Barnes
• 7:15 – 9pm: First Friday at the Barnes, featuring performances by Black Buttafly, screenings by BlackStar, and access to the collection galleries and A Monumental Vision
• 9pm:  Chartered bus pick-up from the Barnes and travel to Ultra Silk Gallery
